Easy and Fun Apple Tree Name Craft and Counting Activity
Although I’m writing this post in the dead middle of summer here in Florida, I’m already dreaming of cool fall mornings. And what better way to usher in fall than with a cute apple tree craft?
This apple tree name craft is a fun and easy way to help your preschooler practice spelling his or her name. It’s editable in Canva, which gives you lots of flexibility. It can also be used as a counting activity, or even a sight word practice activity!

Creating Our Apple Tree name crafts
This activity can obviously be used in a preschool or kindergarten classroom, but we used it in our home. My older daughter (Ella, age 5) and I love to make name crafts and hang them on her and her sister’s door. They make for really sweet seasonal decor!
To make my younger daughter’s name craft, I used the editable Canva template and typed her name right onto the tree trunk. Then I printed the craft in color, including the letters I needed to spell Ruthie’s name.
I cut out all of the pieces and glued the craft together. It came out so cute!
I printed Ella’s craft in black and white so she could decorate it herself. She used our favorite paint sticks for mess-free painting. I loved seeing how she decided to decorate it!
This activity has so many possibilities outside of creating name crafts, too.
Apple Counting Fun
Want to create a fun counting activity? This would make a perfect math center in a preschool or kindergarten classroom! Just print multiple trees and type (or write) a number on each trunk. Print and cut plenty of blank apples for a fun counting activity.
Wondering if you can turn this into an addition activity? Of course you can! Type addition equations on your tree trunks instead of just numbers!
Depending on how you’re using this activity, the apples could be glued onto the trees, or you can attach Velcro or magnets for multiple uses!
Apple Sight Word Practice
For a fun sight word activity, print several trees with sight words (or CVC words) on the trunk. Print apples with all of the letters needed to spell the words. Now you have a fun spelling activity!
Again, decide whether you want to add Velcro or magnets to the letter apples, based on how you plan to use this activity.
